Day 64: Cuena – Guayaquil – Lima, Peru

Be ready at 09:00 hrs at Inti Sisa Art Guesthouse, Guamote to be picked up.

Flight 11: Guayaquil to Lima, Peru

Today you will be transferred from your from hotel in Guamote to Riobamba bus station. You will catch your bus to from Alausi to Cuenca between 10:30 – 11:00 hrs. Your driver will help you to buy a ticket.

I go for my sofi breakfast. They are there, we are the only guests. Delicious. Eggs Benedict. I donot ask how they did this perfect shape.

Then I go back to the hotel, pack everything flight ready.

At 11:30 am my taxi is there and brings me to the private transfer company. I buy my ticket for 12 usd. Short before 12:00 we leave.

We cross Cajas national park. It is very cloudy. Rainy. Sometimes the driver has to stop because of small landslides on the road. His biggest concern is, that the Mercedes bus gets a scratch. No other concerns, no “donot cross” double line, limited visibility, wet street or traffic makes him reconsidering speed. I guess he knows what he is doing.

In Cajas we cross the pass of the western cordillera.

Then it goes down into the coastal region. After 3 hrs we arrive at Guayaquil airport.

Can I have negative altitude sickness (lowness sickness).

10 degrees Celsius more than in Cuenca. I get dropped of a departures and drop my luggage at the empty Avianca desk. Business class upgrade, thank you Avianca.

No lounge. FcUk. I get a beer and a burger for a fortune. We fly 15 minutes early. The business class seat is from the last century.

I arrive in Lima early. No driver there. He is more than an hour late. A Mr. Sebastian wants to do G Adventures a favour but has no car. I go back to the Taxi both. Find my driver. Traffic is crazy. He drives me to hotel britania, miraflores. 40 minutes. It is half past 9:00 PM. I get an upgrade to a studio. Thank you Hotel Britania.

go out to next banco de la nacion and get charge free 800 soles (2 times withdraw 400 soles, you get only 107 eur per withdrawal, max 2 possible on a day).

The I go to next wong supermarket for water, toilet paper, cereals. Form there I go to La Lucha sanguacheria. The streets are full with people. Very good.
