Day 6: from bushy park to queenstown

Today we woke up with the overlandtrackers. Hawthorne lodge was completely booked, because it’s near an overland track overnight station and trackers look out for quarters there. Mary and john were very friendly and supporting, anyway we are happy to leave this rotten place. We head to mount field national park to do the short walk to the Russel falls, horseshoe falls and the tall trees. Our legs are surprising fine after yesterday’s walk, only Christina was eaten by mosquitos in the night.

Walked an easy hour about 5 km

Russell falls

Horseshoe falls and big trees

Then we drove on to the next national park: derwent bridge, Lake St.  Claire. This is the end of the tasmanien overland track, so lots of djungle fighters, hippie backpackers and nature bobos there.

We walked there a short day walk (platypus bay and larmairremener tabelti), got a coffee and drove on.

Next stop was Nelson falls where we met xena warrior princess

Another short walk until we dropped into our home for the night Mt lyell anchorage. Unfortunately it is Sunday and tasmania seems to be even more Catholic than vienna, so everything like a supermarket, restaurant or pub is closed except a pizza take away. And the do only tasmanien pizza – either vegetarian or with chicken on it, the vegetarian has an egg on top, all go with beetroot, you can use the pizza bottom to cover your house roof till eternity. So we got lots of beer with it.

At least the room was fine …. and the doorbell needy

Our room

The day was a drive
